My Kosher Hotel, Alba di Canazei
A kosher hotel in the Val di Fassa, in the Dolomites, with a shul and a mikveh on the premises — and reported to run all year rather than for a season, which in the Alps is the unusual part.
We have not confirmed the kashrus here ourselves — this is what the source says. Check with the hotel or its mashgiach before you rely on it.
- This is the entry that changes what an Italian Alps trip can be. Everything else in the Dolomites is a valley you carry food into; this is a valley you can arrive in empty-handed. The attractions on this site for the Dolomites have been rewritten around it.
- Reported to be under the Badatz of Lugano — Rav Benzion Rabinowitz, the Biale Rebbe — with a permanent mashgiach. Nobody here has confirmed that with the Badatz, so confirm it yourself before booking; this site does not certify kashrus.
- The hotel is at Alba di Canazei, a little up the valley from Canazei itself. The coordinate above is Canazei, because that is the published one; ask the hotel for the door.
- Confirm the dates. Reported year-round is not the same as confirmed year-round, and a hotel that ran a kitchen last winter is not a promise about this summer.
- On the swimming: the pool is reported to run both mixed and separate hours. If separate hours are what you need, get the schedule for your own dates before you book rather than after you arrive.
- For where to go from here, the Sella passes, the Great Dolomites Road and the Marmolada are all on the doorstep, and Tre Cime and Lago di Braies are a drive across the range.
Distances measured from Canazei, at the head of the Val di Fassa, not from the building itself.
